Rudder material i would rather attempt a repair but am unsure as to how the rudder is produced? what is normally the make up of a glass fibre rudder beyond the external shell? if it can be dried out is it a case of just resealing the whole thing?. Guy needs three rudder shafts made for his sail boat. all three shafts are the same dimensionally, but the sample i have is eat up in corrosion. this makes me think the material is not stainless as he thought, or if it is, a very low grade. the question is, what is the best material to make the. Imho making a rudder from this material would be a disaster; it would bend so much as to be useless in a blow. as for other materials, it partly depends on whether your boat is kept in the water or not..
